MULHOLLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL -

SCHOOL FOR ADVANCED STUDIES

Welcome to our School For Advanced Studies (SAS) and the Gifted and Talented (GATE) Program.

WHY CHOOSE MULHOLLAND’S SAS PROGRAM?

Mulholland’s SAS program for grades 6-8 is designed specifically to challenge gifted and high achieving students to meet and exceed the state’s common core standards, and prepare our students not only for high school but college as well. Actions we take to reach these goals include:

  • Rigorous student centered curriculum.

  • Extensive use of laptop computers and other technology to individualize instruction.

  • Accelerated math classes designed to ensure success in high school, college and beyond.

  • Creative and exciting electives, including our highly regarded music program, Robotics and coding, as well as three career path classes in:

   1) Engineering

   2) Bio-technology

   3) Video Production

GREAT TEACHERS

The single most important factor in the success of a school is the quality of its teachers.  We are extremely proud of our experienced highly-qualified SAS faculty.  All SAS teachers take 16 hours annually of specialized training in teaching gifted students.

WHO QUALIFIES?

To be accepted into SAS, students must meet one or more of the following criteria.

  • Have scored high on the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress.

  • Be identified gifted.

  • Have a recent report card which shows high achievement and have a strong recommendation from a teacher.
